Interview with LokoGilbert

We will be conducting interviews from different players each week and we had a chance to sit down with currently the top player in frags/points so far.

We had a chance to talk to Chilean Player from Jalapeños lokogilbert and ask him a few questions.

First of all, what is your full name and where do you live?

Gilbert: Cristian Reyes, 26 years old from Antofogasta, Chile

What clans have you been in?

Gilbert: A clan called SLK with 310 ping when I started, and afterwards a clan called CDM, and since then no clan since the QW in Chile died.

What did SLK and CDM stand for?

gilbert: SLK I Don't remember, and CDM for "Caballeros de la Muerte" (Knights of Death)

How did you get started playing Quake or Quakeworld?

gilbert: My older brother started playing netquake and it was for him that I started playing sometime around 1998.

What are your thoughts of the fusion clan arena tournament so far? The good and the bad.

Gilbert: I think it has been a great initiative to revive old communities that have long since died, especially like the one in Chile. It has been great so far playing different countries and players with different skills. I do not think if it wasn't for the tournament, I would ever play against these players. With the new clients, all games are evenly matched with the same ping. The bad part overall, could be the camping, some clans have taken it to the extreme, but clan arena has been always that way.

We know for the current time being because of no other clans in Chile participating and the bad routing to Brazil, your team has had to play with high ping all the games so far, how have you maintained a high level of gameplay with that ping?

Gilbert: for the blessing of the command sv_antilag, ojajoa, it would be impossible to play at high level without it.

Before talking to you guys again recently, throughout all these years, what did you guys do throughout this big period of inactivity?

Gilbert: There was a period of time, we would be playing every night, up to 6-7 players... and for reasons without knowing, everyone stopped playing. We would just play povdmm4 all day.

Who was the best player in your opinion in Chile?

Gilbert: From what I can remember, Angrod who was the most complete in all the mods, especially in 1on1 DM.

Who was the player you most admired?
Gilbert: Locktar from Sweden, and for a while, I would use his config.

What map have you enjoyed the best so far?

Gilbert: The Campgrounds q3dm6qw.

What map would you like to see in the future clan arena tourney? From any Quake.

Gilbert: I would like to see from quakelive, the map overkill or eviscerate.

Do you think we will see more QW teams from Chile?
Gilbert: Yes, the idea is to get better and I would like to bring the best Quakelive players from Chile into the tournament, and I am sure they would be able to adapt fairly easily and form teams easier than it took us.

Anything else you would like to share with the community before we end the interview?

Gilbert: Hopefully we can see the QW community grow and to have more tournaments and to have newer players, because it is the best FPS of all time!!
